Synopsis

Hugo, an unsuccessful writer in Madrid in the fifties (he is always being told that his stories aren’t interesting because they lack credibility) is in a relationship with Ivón, a beautiful chorus girl from a Variety Theatre whose aim is to leave work, get married and live without financial worries. Hugo has a son, Carlos, who’s almost the same age as Ivón, and not only wants to get a sizable inheritance from his father but also makes the attractive chorus girl fall in love with him. However a mystery is hanging over Hugo´s young, rich, attractive son, a mystery which we will only find out about at the end, when Carlos forces his father to choose a tragic, desperate solution for which, paradoxically, he cannot be blamed.
